2019-2020 Concert Season
Winter Concert
December 8, 2019
North Salem High School Auditorium
Artwork for Pictures at an Exhibition
Written in 1874, Mussorgsky was inspired to write Pictures at an Exhibition after attending an art exhibition displaying over 400 works by his good friend Viktor Hartmann, who had recently passed away. Many of the original works are gone and there is much debate as to which “pictures” Mussorgsky used for his inspiration.
As part of our concert experience on December 8, Youth Symphony musicians were invited to produce their own rendition of one of the pictures for Pictures at an Exhibition using the medium of their choice.
Artwork for each movement was displayed in the lobby for audience members to enjoy as they entered the auditorium. The winner of the Art Award was chosen by Kamron Coleman before the concert.
Enjoy the artwork that was displayed in the lobby on December 8.
