Mozart Players is a non-audition, preparatory string ensemble directed by Rachael Anderson. Mozart Players engages primarily students in grades 4-7. Since this is a non-auditioned group, a teacher recommendation is required to make sure students are prepared to handle the skill demands of the ensemble. A prospective Mozart Player should be able to perform the following skills:
- Maintain basic position and posture while playing.
- Execute detache and staccato with appropriate arm motion.
- Be able to play and read notes on all four strings.
- Demonstrate awareness and emerging understanding of how accidentals and key signature affect left hand finger placement.
- Show commitment to at-home practice.
Our goal is to have a place for students who need a challenge because they are learning quickly. We want to enhance the school orchestra string program by helping students build performance skills and a love for orchestral literature.
By participating in the Mozart Player ensemble, an emerging string student joins a dynamic and supportive learning community that has the potential to last through high school and beyond.
